lyrics

SUBCONSCIOUS GRIEF
Complete and utter terror, white knuckles at the wheel
Racing with disaster, but still it does approach
Is there anyone behind the wheel or have you lost your mind?
Believe it to be possible, believe it to be true
That which you thought was gone has now returned for you
Still the creature gains no matter how fast you drive
Reality is that there is no way that you will survive
Still the questioned lingers how do you kill what’s not alive?

Given a small chance to Bust out
Cut down a dark alley maybe to safety
Looks like a dead end with no way out
Comes up behind you blocking you in
Cannot go left and no way to go right
The end of the road is now in sight
Die now or die later what is the matter
On the concrete your insides splatter

Thinking back on when all this started, was there something that you missed
Or a way that you could have made it out alive
You now ponder every second and reflect on each one hoping that you might
Be able to remember that you are still asleep
But what is realized is that all those stories about when the head is severed from
The body it actually does stay alive
For just long enough for it to see the torso falling to the cold ground where it
Will be left by the unrecognizable head

Here now the body rests while the head lies awake
Bleeding so profusely that it’s almost comical
Had no idea that you would end this way
Always thought that you would die from old age
But here you are dead on the very streets
That you thought were safe and made life complete
But now you twitch and spurt out the neck
A violent outcome is what you should expect
